Sankt Augustin, 1st of January 2020. Only a few months after its completion, the Parkend residential district in Frankfurt's Europaviertel has been honoured with a high distinction and included in the "FIABCI Prix d'Excellence Official Selection 2019". The FIABCI Prix d'Excellence Germany is regarded as one of the most coveted awards for building projects, in its international form it is even considered the "Oscar" for project developments. The megaproject with 812 residential units in 18 buildings was realised by P+B Group from Sankt Augustin in a construction period of eight years. The architecture of the residential neighbourhood was designed by Wentz & Co. GmbH, Frankfurt.
With 66,461 square metres of total living space and a total sales volume of more than 350 million euros, Parkend is not only one of the largest residential neighbourhood developments by an individual developer and property developer in Germany. The megaproject also sets urban planning and architectural standards for the development of a new urban district.
The 18 buildings with their white façades are characterised on the one hand by the individuality of their architecture. Through the use of clinker façades and parapets on the buildings, a uniform fencing and planting as well as predominantly intensively greened rooftops, a uniform and elegant overall urban appearance with many green accents has been created.
Appraisal of the FIABCI judges
The laudation of the top‐class panel of judges of the "FIABCI Prix d'Excellence", which evaluated the overall concept of architecture, sustainability, logistics, marketing, innovation and urban integration, reads: “Despite the different types of buildings, a harmonious overall impression was created here and a quarter worth living in with an exceptional quality of living. Parkend is an energy‐optimised garden town with its own town square, community centre, shops, café, day care centre, playgrounds and idyllic green areas. The different sizes and features of the 800 dwellings created an impressive diversity among residents.”
The range of dwelling types at Parkend is as varied as the needs of its users: from the compact apartment of 23 square metres to the 186 square metre penthouse with rooftop garden. Well thought‐out floor plans and modern room concepts, loggias, balconies and terraces as well as first‐class equipment, including multimedia cabling, round off the exclusive product profile. All 812 apartments were already sold before completion of the neighbourhood. Hildebrandt‐Immobilien, Frankfurt/Stuttgart, was responsible for the distribution.
High quality standards
The project as a whole impresses in all respects with its outstanding quality: from the sustainable construction quality to the furnishing of the individual dwellings and the location directly on the 60,000 square metre Europagarten, along with its infrastructure and excellent connections to public transport.
According to Gerd Hebebrand, CEO of P+B Group, the decisive factor for compliance with the quality standards was above all the refined and precise basic planning completed prior to the start of construction in 2011, the specifications of which were not deviated from over the eight‐year construction period, a continuous evaluation of all construction processes and the use of high‐quality materials. "Unpredictable challenges, which are virtually unavoidable in such a megaproject, were quickly and professionally mastered by the project team," emphasized Gerd Hebebrand.
